Perched at the privileged end of private road that skirts the Sag Harbor bay, this house stands apart for its calm rigor and monochromatic palette. Designed by 1100 Architect along with the owner, Kelly Klein, the simple volumes belie a thorough, studied, even wrought approach to joining two extruded volumes — one dedicated to the public spaces parallel to the waterfront, and another housing the private quarters that runs perpendicular. The careful alignments throughout extend to the site plan. The house's entrance is perfectly centered on the pier that becomes visible upon approach, and an outdoor seating area steps down to a pool of the same width. The separate guesthouse, a remnant from the property's previous life, was completely reworked inside to mimic the main house's finishes.
